your
classroom

In-school sessions taught by SF Shakes’ teaching artists.

Let SF Shakespeare’s expert teaching artists activate your students’ creativity, connection, and confidence. Building upon the foundation of your classroom, we facilitate the artistic and personal growth of each student while transforming the group into a fun, engaging, interactive ensemble, using curriculum that is specifically tailored to learning objectives and adapts to students. Our Education program brings over 30 years of educational and theatrical expertise to students for an immersive experience that they will never forget!

Our education programs are designed for English/History/Arts teachers, remote learners, home school parents/teachers/tutors, any educator teaching about Shakespeare and his works, and independent lifelong learners looking to enrich their experience of Shakespeare and theater.  Most of our programs can be taught either in-person or virtually. A “session” is typically a one hour class, but could range based on class size.

We recommend most programs for grades 4-12, but we can also customize programs for younger students.  Pricing varies based on number of sessions, number of students/classes, number of teaching artists needed, required materials, and transportation.  Scroll down to learn more about our offerings and reserve your session.

This in-depth residency helps students gain skill and enthusiasm, and can be carefully crafted to the needs of your classroom.

shakespeare's heartbeat

Shakespeare’s Heartbeat uses the heartbeat rhythm of Shakespeare’s words and the physicality of his characters to engage with students on the autism spectrum, and also is effective across a constellation of abilities.

takes on shakes

These on-demand, performance-based video lessons illuminate Shakespeare’s work in exciting ways that encourage students to think critically and come to their own conclusions. Each episode offers fresh, often unexpected ‘takes’ on famous scenes that interrogate complex, and sometimes controversial topics in Shakespeare’s canon.

specialty shakes

We offer interactive instruction in a variety of additional specialty subjects such as history, voice, movement, clowning, comedy, and stage combat, which can be offered individually or in combination with our other programs.
