Auditions for the 2023 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream
SF Shakes is now accepting video submissions for our 2023 Shakespeare On Tour production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Please submit the following via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 28, 2022:
If you were previously cast in the Tour or Free Shakespeare in the Park, you are cordially invited to callbacks (dates TBD). Please fill the form above (you may skip the video submission question) and let us know which casts you were in.
Shakespeare On Tour is now in its 34th year bringing a 55-minute version of Shakespeare plays to schools, libraries, and communities. Five actors/educators perform multiple roles and often teach 1-hour post-show Playshops. This is an actor-managed tour, with the cast doing their own driving, set up, and break down at each location. We tour all over California, usually 1-3 shows per day at 1 or 2 different locations. Most shows are Monday-Friday daytime, but there are some evening and weekend shows.
An ensemble of 8-10 actors; some roles will be precast.
SF Shakes is deeply committed to inclusive, empowering, and conscious casting. Actors of all genders and races and disabled actors will be considered for all roles.
All roles will be covered by a part-time alternate; alternates are paid for rehearsal time, plus they receive per-day pay for performances. Alternates must commit to being available for the entire run. Every effort is made to give alternates a performance opportunity early in the run, and alternates are guaranteed at least 4 performances.
Casting decisions for A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be made by the week of 12/10/2022.
